Gloria Jean Polley

Our beloved Gloria Jean {Pritchard} Polley of Bloomington, IN, departed this life on Saturday, February 8, 2025. She was born to the late Mervin and Marie {Johnson} Pritchard on October 21, 1949. Gloria was a graduate of Bloomington High School where she excelled as the school’s “Majorette;” in addition, to attending Indiana University. Gloria accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life while attending the 11th Street Pentecostal Faith Assembly Church. She met and married her “EVERYTHING” in life, Jerry D. Polley, on February 3, 1968, and together they shared 57 years of marriage. Shortly, thereafter, they welcomed their only child, Jason Roy Polley, who was the greatest achievement and anchor in her life. More importantly, she was most proud of the father he had become. Professionally, Gloria worked as an administrative assistant at Indiana University and finished her professional career with 42 years at Kroger where she made it a point to recognize and remember all of her customers by name. Gloria was an avid fan of motor sports and the racing franchise both locally and at many surrounding racetracks. She and her husband Jerry would arrive hours prior to races in order to snag the coveted, best front row seat. Gloria could recall the names and history behind each racecar driver and their statistics. Gloria’s most loved and cherished moments were following her grandson Jared in his quest at motor bike racing, never missing one of his competitions. Gloria was an undeniable Elvis fan. Attending one of his first concerts at Indiana University where she had a front row seat, snagging one of his sought-after silk scarves. One of her all-time Elvis’ favorites, “The Wonder of You” which she remarked, “the lyrics reminded her of her husband Jerry.” Walking alongside Gloria in her journey through life was her dog and loving companion, Gunner. His boundless energy and infectious enthusiasm were a constant source of joy, and he brought sunshine into her life. The family she leaves behind is her husband, Jerry D. Polley, son, Jason R. Polley (Janelle), grandchildren, Alyssa (Taylor) Polley, Jared Polley, Jamon Eads (Ashley), Dason Eads (Emily) along with great-grandchildren, Willow Brooke Smith, Emmy Mae Eads and Breckin Curry. Additionally, many loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gloria's legacy will endure in the hearts of her loved ones and everyone she touched. Pulling from Elvis’ repertoire ”She did her way.” Visitation will be 12:30-2:30pm Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 South Old State Road 37 in Bloomington. Funeral services will be 2:30pm at the funeral home with Pastor Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow at South Union Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of Gloria.
