Anna B. Turner Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Anna B. Turner, 81, of Bloomington passed away at 1:55 p.m. on Monday at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington. Born Sept. 8, 1929 in Monroe County she was the daughter of Homer and Eliza (Fulk) Stines. Anna was a 1948 graduate of Stinesville High School. She was a graduate of Zion Bible College in Zion, Illinois. After graduation she was actively involved in Child Evangelism and Youth Ministry. For several years she traveled the Midwest conducting vacation bible schools and youth church. Hundreds of children and adults enjoyed her excellent bible story telling adventures. She married Delmer L. Turner on June 25, 1960 in Ellettsville, IN. Anna worked at Sarkes Tarzian Corp. and RCA of Bloomington an as a reading teacher assistant at Harrodsburg Elementary School. For most of her life she enjoyed being a farm housewife and mother. Anna loved her family, family reunions, reading her Bible, sewing, quilting and crocheting. In her later years she enjoyed oil painting and to the thrill of family, giving them some her best works. She also loved studying recipe books and trying to find the best recipes for large family dinners. There was nothing more pleasing to her than when she saw smiles on family and friends faces from eating her homemade yeast rolls and famous chicken and dumplings. Anna was a member of the Harrodsburg Assembly of God and the Women’s Ministries. She loved making crafts and food for the church bazaars. Her survivors include her husband Delmer, daughters Sharon (Alan) Armstrong of Springville and Beth (Bob) Shields of Harrodsburg, grandchildren; Amy (Cam) Spires, Dr. Ashley (Heath Prince) Armstrong and Allison Armstrong, all of Springville, Kathryn E. Ryan of Zionsville, IN, Derrek (Michelle) Thompson, Bedford, and Alex Runyon of Harrodsburg, five great grandchildren; Jacob, Josh, and Scout Thompson, Caden Spires and Gavin Blackman. Also surviving are sisters Betty Burton of Ellettsville, Ruth Gill of Indianapolis, brother, Robert (Judy) Stines of Bloomington and sister Barbara (Jesse) Rowe of Decatur, TX, sister-in-law Maxine Stines of Candler, NC and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Connie Ryan, brother, Harry Stines and an adopted sister, Cena Turpin Widner. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29th at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Rd. 37 in Bloomington with Pastor Terry Doane officiating. Burial will be at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour preceding the services on Friday.
