Barbara Ellen Wilkerson

Barbara Wilkerson 67, after a 2 year battle with cancer, left this world on her way to heaven Monday January 28, 2013. She was born in Bloomington to her Mother Mable Axsom and her father Elmer Axsom, August 26,1945. At the tender age of 16 she meet the love of her life and the man who would be by her side for the next 51 years, Lawrence Wilkerson. The next loves of her life were her 4 boys. Todd, the oldest married to Lori.Tony, married to Lisa, Scott, Kevin (Beth). Her sons gave her the next generation of Wilkersons, her beloved Grandchildren~ Jason, Joshua, Brad, Ryne, Tara, Courtney, Amanda, Brevon, Danaye. They in turn gave her great children/Dilan, Dalton, Hailey, Garette and Kyson. With this many boys, she quickly developed a deep love for softball and was faithful to attend all their games, cheering them on no matter how many games that entailed. She was always there to lend an ear to her kids who had a problem or a secret and just needed to talk. The only time she was unavailable was at 2:00 in the afternoon when Days of Our Lives was on. By her side for 17 years was her faithful white poodle Moochie. Besides her kids, grand kids and great grand kids, Barb loved bingo, win or lose she rarely missed a game but she liked to win. Her other loves included going for a fun afternoon on Fridays with her sisters, Shirley and Donna.Visiting her sister Sandy and brother Arthur. She loved Chi Chi's restaurant and most of the family get togethers there. She loved going out to eat with her son Tony and Lisa and going to their house for dinner. She loved orange Sunkist but it had to have a straw, and ice cream was a must every night. She was a "Mom of all trades", from playing ball with the boys to teaching Scott how to drive a stick shift. She will be missed by all but will always be remembered for her smile and contagious laugh. Barbara had 4 siblings. Donna Hillenburg, Shirley Bell, Sandy Axsom,and Arthur Axsom . She is preceded in death by her Mother and Father. Her family would like to thank the Dr. Koneru and her staff, for the love and care they gave their beloved Mommy. Funeral services for Barbara will be held Thursday evening January 31, 2013 at 7:30PM at Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old highway 37. Reverend David Norris will preside.
