Carl Vernon Calaski III

Carl Vernon Calaski, III Born in San Antonio, Texas to Carl Vernon Calaski, Jr & Harriett Louise Roe on December 8, 1952, he passed from this world November 6, 2023 at the age of 70, with family at his bedside. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on November 22, 2023, 3:00p.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1413 E. 17th Street, Bloomington, Indiana. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Carl’s ashes will be interned at Calvary Cemetery, Terre Haute, Indiana. Carl served in the United States Army for 20 years from 1971-1991. He was a proud Army Veteran and his last nursing position was at the Veteran’s Administration (VA) Clinic in Bloomington, where he spent 8 years caring for veterans. Carl earned his nursing degree after retiring from the Army and spent 18 years as an RN. My dear sweet Carl is the love of my life and I will miss him with all my heart. We had 21 beautiful years together. We loved to camp, fish, and being on a boat was always a highlight for us, and we loved to travel. We were always happy just being with one another. He loved to spoil me, and he would do anything for me and I loved him for that. Our last week together was a whirlwind of events, we went to Gatlinburg, TN for our 20th anniversary. We had fun anniversary photos taken, despite him feeling so bad, that I will treasure forever. When we returned home him and my work family had planned a retirement party for me. So many wonderful memories! Family meant the world to him, he loved his children Crystal, Brian & Kate, as well as my children Brian & Sarah, but the grandchildren were the light of his life. Anytime we could spend with the grandchildren was always special. We loved having them at our home or taking them camping, we treasured all these moments with them and always looked forward to future adventures with them. Carl was preceded in death by his father, Carl Calaski, Jr., his biological mother, Harriett Louise Roe, his step-mother Katheryn Delay-Calaski, who raised him and his sisters, his step mother Glenda Combs-Calaski. Carl was also preceded in death by his two sisters Jo Ann Calaski-Blair and Anita Calaski. Carl is survived by his spouse of 20 years, Patricia Calaski, his daughters Crystal (Chris) Shahan, Kate (Brad) Love, Brian (Vicki) Calaski; as well as Pat’s children Brian (Ashley) Allen and Sarah Allen-Valentine. He is also survived by our precious grandchildren: Milan & Paris Tolbert, Jeremy & Jonathan Brooks, Richie & Emily Clapp, Becca, Ben, Brooke & Ava Calaski. Alex, Andrew, & AnaMae Valentine, and Madison & Hayden Allen. Great-grandchildren Xavier & Raelyn Arellano & River Tepe. Carl is also survived by 2 nephews, James & Daniel Blair, along with several nieces and nephews.
