Dee (Alva) Reszka

Dee (Alva) Reszka, age 97, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home on May 14th, 2026. Born on September 6, 1928, in Alto, Tennessee, Dee was raised in a large country family. She shared a close bond with her sisters that became a beloved hallmark of their lives. This special sisterhood was warmly featured in The Tennessean in 2015. A devoted and caring wife to Ralph Reszka for nearly four decades, Dee lovingly and supportively raised their four children—Linda, Walter, Mark, and Frank—guided by principles of Proverbs 31. Dee’s personal faith, church ministries (Eucharistic, Nursing Homes, The Church Board, The Prayer Group) and community services, namely Stone Belt, were very dear to her. As an engaging and empathetic conversationalist, she provided life-changing counsel, wisdom and prayer for her loved ones. Dee possessed a uniquely surprising sense of humor, unwavering faith and supportive business acumen. Her home was a place of refuge for both family and friends alike, especially when they needed it the most. She was an all-around beauty. Dee is survived by her four children, Linda, Walter, Mark, and Frank. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christie, Chadwick, Jason, Amydee, and Danielle, as well as her 9 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. In keeping with her caring heart, Dee cared for people as if it were her life’s mission. She took care of a friend while they were recovering from a health issue. She provided shelter for her eldest grandchildren when times were hard. She even gladly took in her great-grandson Christopher, whom she helped raise with the same devotion that she showed anyone in great need. All in all, she claimed that around 40 people had stayed in her guest room when they had no other place to go. She consistently showed compassion and motherly care to people, especially when they needed it most. Dee is further survived by her longtime friends Thomas, Edda Mae, Doris, Patty, and Lisa, all of whom were and are loved as honorary members of the family. Dee was a remarkable woman of God, who will be deeply missed and remembered. Memories of her will live on as treasures in the hearts of all, who knew her. In lieu of flowers please give donations to Saint Charles Borromeo Church. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37 has been entrusted with the arrangements and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Alva on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 12:00PM Noon at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
