Dolores "Dee" Ann Briles

Dolores “Dee” Ann Briles 83, was born on July 18, 1934 in Farmers City, Illinois. She was the daughter of Glen and Mary Brooks Calhoun. Dee left this world of pain and suffering to go to her heavenly home devoid of the pain and suffering on Jan 30, 2018. She was recently being cared for by the good people of Stonecroft Health Care Facility. Dee is survived by her husband John to whom she has been married to for 60 years. The family included two sons Kevin (Terri) and Craig (Marci), the pride and loves of her life. In addition to her sons are her grandchildren; Travis, Josh, Ben, Nick, Max, Jona, Mackenzie and Brandi (Shawn Langley). Then she found room to love the three great grandchildren Nick, Brenna and Ryan Langley. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Jo Calhoun of Georgetown, Texas. Those preceding her to the Promised Land were her siblings; Wes (Genva), Warren (Helen) and Glen D and Pauline (John) Howes. Dee was a graduate of Brown Business College in Peoria, IL and after she worked in the insurance industry. She had met John prior to him leaving for a four year stint in the Air Force. Thru a mutual friend they began writing to each other while John was in Germany for three years and the writings continued for two more years upon his return. They were then married on July 21, 1957. In later endeavors of life, Dee joined the IU work force by working with the LAR Group, what started as a part time job turned into a 26 year career. Dee was interested in needle work, many of her friends and grandchildren were the owners of some of her crocheting works. She always found time to be a den mother for scouts, a Sunday School Teacher for children at Arlington United Methodist Church, help for the needy and a friend wherever needed. It would be strange if the mention of her golfing skills were not written about. She was a member of the church choir and enjoyed many musical performances. Our final goodbye will be at Arlington United Methodist Church (1820 Arlington Road) visitation for public will be from 4-8 pm on Friday February 2nd and church service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday February 3rd . Rev. Robert Ostermier, former pastor and friend will be the officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla following the church service. Memorial gifts in her name may be made to the Arlington United Methodist Church or Heart to Heart Hospice. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S.
