Donald Leroy Boruff

Donald Leroy Boruff, 89, of Bloomington, passed away on March 2nd, 2025. Donnie was born on October 3, 1935, in Bloomington, Indiana, the son of Glenn and Lilly (Floyd) Boruff, and the younger brother of Delbert Boruff. After graduating from Solsberry High School in 1953, Donnie married the love of his life, Lucille McCombs, in Corinth, Mississippi, on July 10, 1953. Together, they shared a full and rich life, belonging to many organizations, participating in dance clubs, bowling, and enjoying vacations and travel with close friends and family. Donnie was the owner and operator of the Marathon Bulk Plant in Bloomington. He was a dedicated member of the Solsberry United Methodist Church and a 65-year member of the Solsberry Masonic Lodge #411. Additionally, Donnie was involved in the Eastern Star Solsberry Chapter 547 OES, the Murat Shriners, and the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis. Donnie’s passion for life extended beyond his professional accomplishments. He was an avid euchre player, a winning Bingo player, and an exceptional dance partner. However, his greatest love was traveling the racing circuit across numerous states, where he made countless lifelong friends along the way. Donnie is survived by his sons, Perry Boruff of The Villages, Florida, and Danny L. Boruff (Caprice) of Fayetteville; granddaughters Casey Ferkingstad of Solsberry and Dana Stanfield of Solsberry; grandsons Scott Alexander (Mitzi) of Bloomington and JC Alexander of Bozeman, Montana; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Norine Bunch (Jim) of Bloomington and Mary Ruth (Boruff) Hostettler. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Donnie's infectious smile, warm personality, and great sense of humor touched everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lucille Boruff, his brother Delbert Boruff, his sisters-in-law Beverly Jean Weaver and Rebecca Corbin, his brother-in-law John Weaver, and his nephew Robert Weaver. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Cedar Creek Assisted Living Center, where Donnie spent the last seven years of his life, for their care and friendship. They also extend their gratitude to the nurses and doctors at IU Health-Bloomington and the IU Health Hospice Services for their compassionate support, which made Donnie’s journey—and that of his family—easier and more peaceful. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held Saturday March 8, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Donald will be honored with Masonic Rites first at 1:00PM followed by Pastor Rob Martindale. Burial will take place at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
