Elva Irene (Brown) Richardson

Elva Irene (Brown) Richardson, age 89 of Bloomington passed away Monday afternoon June 21, 2021 at her residence. She was born January 12, 1932 to Price and Alma May (Fleetwood) Brown and attended Handy Primary School and Smithville High School. She worked at RCA as a line worker, Fountain Bleu Nursing Home (Golden Living) as a Cook, and Food Service Manager and Dietitian, and at Gamma Phi Beta Sorority as a Cook. Elva was a longtime member of the Eagles Lodge FOE #1085 and Women’s Auxiliary, where she held numerous elected offices. She was a 30 year plus member of the Apostolic Bible Church of Bloomington, where she was loved and known for her amazing baked desserts and as a member of the “Brown Sisters” singing group. Elva thoroughly enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, doing word search puzzles, sewing, quilting, gardening, and time surrounded by her children and family. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother, cousin, co-worker and friend. She is survived in death be her 5 sisters Ila Brown Deckard, Georgia Brown Chambers, Mildred “Sue” Brown Calvert, Vera Brown Kinser and Wanetta Brown (William) Wisley; seven children Phillip R. (Rogenia Cain) Richardson, Sandra K. Richardson (Herb) Perkins, Sheila A. Summitt, Shelly D. Richardson, Shirley R. Janisse, Timothy M. Richardson, and Sheryl L. Richardson (David) Frye, as well as 20 grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren. Elva was predeceased by her parents, siblings Leona Brown Krebbs, Belva Brown, Hazel Brown Hill, Lesta Brown Hawkins, Ada “Maxine” Shields, Vanga “Tiny” Moore and Ruth Brown Teague, Russell Brown and Ember "Virgil" Brown, husband Henry Lee Richardson, one son James Lee Richardson, one grandchild Michael Keith Butcher, and 3 great grandchildren, , and one great great grandson. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 28, 2021 at 1:00PM at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old 37. Officiated by Pastor David N. Beecham and Pastor Duane Coffman. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Henry in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will also be held Monday, June 28, 2021 from 11:00AM until the time of the service at 1:00PM at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory.
