Georgette Wright

Georgette Wright, 86, of Bloomington went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at her daughters home in Ellettsville, Indiana. She was born on March 5, 1935 in New York City, New York the daughter of Edward and Helen (Defessen) Conway. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Wright and grandson Justin Lewis Wright. She is survived by her daughter Pam (Gary) Hunsucker, son Jeffrey Lewis Wright, brother-in-law David Wright (Deann), sister-in-law Beverly Smith and Wally Corbin, grandchildren Matthew Hunsucker (Jami), Danelle Clark (Andy), Laura Hunsucker (JT), great grandchildren Nelia, Ashley, Emma, Gabriel, Huxley, Everleigh, Lincoln, and Janaya. Also, her beloved pets Pierre her dog; Bootsie her cat, and her birds, Jack & Jill. Georgette was a worshipper and loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart. She reflected the Lord in all aspects of her life, always putting others first. Giving was her way of life, from buying candy bars at the grocery store and giving them to the cashier, or cookies for her doctors and caregivers, to gift certificates from My Thai, her favorite restaurant, to give to those whose friendship she counted so dearly. She was a ray of sunshine and joy to everyone that knew her, and she touched your heart in a special way. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, and great grandchildren and looked forward to family get togethers. She wanted to be a part of every family birthday celebration and holidays. She thought of her caregivers, Debbie, Beverly, and Kim, her nurse, as family. They really cared for Georgette and the family is forever grateful for their sincere connection and love. Georgette worked at IU for over 30 years in food service, mainly Ashton Center. She took that opportunity to witness to the students and serve as a surrogate mother to them. She made sure that late comers to the food service line were given the same options as those that came when the line opened, sometimes that meant making fresh food for them. The students called her mom, and many kept in contact with her through the years. She was a world changer in many ways because of her love for others and didn’t realize the impact of that love for others was her ministry. Caring for her Mother the last year of her life was her daughter’s honor and joy. She will be greatly missed by all. Sentiments from her son Jeff……. My Mother was the one to give me life, she was my hero, my best friend and my rock. She was more than just my Mother. She raised me to believe in Jesus our Lord and Savior. When I was weak, she always gave me strength by her love. She was always there my whole life; she would call ten times a day just to encourage and to give her love and support. My Mother was always by my side, if not physically surely spiritually. I chose the last four years of my life to be with my mother every day. When my Dad passed away in 2017, I thought I was taking care of my Mother for all those years, but she was really taking care of me. I cherish all her words of wisdom that she and Dad gave me, and I honor them as the scriptures say. My Mother had so much love and showed it to everyone she met. She never had anything bad to say about anyone, and she never met a stranger. Most of all my Mother talked about Jesus, his goodness, his love, and his protection for her and the many blessings in her life. I will miss my Mother so much she was my life; she is in heaven now with Jesus, I know I will see her again and rejoice and share our love again, both with my Mother and Father. I thank the Lord for the special and loving Mother he gave to me. The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 S. Old State Rd 37 Bloomington, Ind, with Rev Kim Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 at the funeral home. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S.
