Georgia B. Waterford

Georgia B. (Hyde) Waterford, 94, of Bloomington, passed away November 25, 2020 at her residence. She was born on July 2, 1926 in Bloomington to George Luther and Harriet Blanche (Adams) Hyde. Georgia graduated from Bloomington High School in 1944 and began working at RCA her Senior year of high school during World War II. She married Howard Waterford on June 21, 1947. Howard and Georgia had four children and were married for 57 years until his passing on July 5th, 2004. Georgia often took summers off from RCA to spend with her children until her early retirement after 23 years of service to spoil & care for her adorable grandchildren and later, great grandchildren, participating in school pick-ups, drop-offs, attending various events that included baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, and concerts, actively supporting her family at all levels. Georgia was a great cook, known for her pies, homemade chicken and noodles, gardening, canning and seamstress skills. Georgia was a member of Clear Creek Christian Church, a life time member of the Eastern Star, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and many other organizations. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and active member of her community. Georgia is survived by her four children, Steve (Donna) Waterford, Sharon Waterford, Karen (Mark) Combs, and Christie (Steven) Douglas; grandchildren, Kim Rodman, Grant (Ashley Cox) Combs, Dr. Britney (Thomas) Zimmer. Roy (Sydney Courtad) Waterford; grandchildren by marriage, Terra (Brandon) Blackwell, Chase (Bree) Neeley; great-grandchildren, Shanice, Forrest, Raelynn, Miles, Roah, Allie B. , Henry, Sammy and Leo; sister, Norma Jean Headley and sister-in-law Joan (Dwight) Snoddy, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Claude, Paul, and Ross Hyde; and sisters, Frances Donaldson, Ruth Denny, Maude Pritchett and Mary Benham Comer. The family would also like to send a special thanks to all attending Healthcare Professionals, Home Instead Senior Care caregivers, Marie, Sondra, Kaylee, Lisa, Alicia, and Flossie along with many others as well as Southern Care Hospice for assisting with compassionate care of Georgia during her final years of life. A visitation for Georgia will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington. A private service will be held.
