Gwendavere (Gwen) May Richardson

Gwendavere (Gwen) May Richardson, 94 of Bloomington passed away Saturday February 21, 2015 at IU Health Hospice House. Gwen was raised in the home of her Maternal Grandparents, Felix and Carrie Lantz in the Kirksville area. She always enjoyed telling the "going ons" during that time in her life. She led a very active life, was a sixty two year plus active member of Clear Creek Christian Church where she served as a Sunday School Superintendant, Treasurer, of her Sunday School class, children's teacher for ten years, was in charge of both Funeral Dinners and Wedding Receptions and was instrumental in starting a new missionary bible study for young mothers. She herself was a member of the Evening Stars group. Gwen was also a member of the Good Neighbors Homemaker Club where she served as treasurer. When her son Dennis owned the Bloomington Speedway you would find her working in the office every Friday night. Gwen was also the Clear Creek Cemetery Secretary, served as Pink Lady at the Bloomington Hospital for twenty five years. Gwen worked for Sarkes Tarzan and General Electric as an inspector. Gwen is survived by her son, Dennis Richardson of Bloomington, two step-daughters, Judith Richardson Adams of Bloomington, Jan (Tommy) Henry of Tucson, Arizona, granddaughter, Kelly Adams (Duane) Lutgring, children Hannah and Adam of Greenwood, two grandsons, Rick (Lauren) Adams and daughter Rylie of Fairfax, Virginia, Matt Adams and son Mason of Bloomington, and sister, Wavel Thomas. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Stultz in 1952, second husband Elmer Richardson in 1981, grandparents, mother, Lillian Mabbitt and son-in-law David Adams, sister Wilma Turner, brothers, Jim and Bennie Mabbitt. Services will be 2pm Tuesday February 24, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home with visitation 4-8pm Monday February 23, 2015. Burial will follow at the Clear Creek Cemetery. Officiating will be a long time friend Wendy Vanderzee Family would like to express their love and appreciation t all the staff at the Hospice House and the love shown to us by all our friends.
