Gwendolyn Marie Scuffham

Gwendolyn Marie (McLeod) Scuffham , age 61, of Bloomington, IN, formerly of Mobile, AL, was called home to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 16. Born in Mobile, AL on July 6, 1954, she was the daughter of Gerald McLeod, Sr. and Marie McLeod; her father and brother, Gerald McLeod, Jr., preceded her in death. She married her devoted husband of 30 years, Leonard, in December, 1985. She followed him, who served in our United States Navy, to military bases in Virginia, Maine, and Mississippi. Following his retirement, they settled in Bloomington, IN. Gwen had a degree in Elementary Education from Austin Peay State University; she home schooled her four children instilling in them the importance of faith and loving others. Throughout her career, Gwen taught at various Christian schools in Mobile, AL. She also taught kindergarten at Lighthouse Christian Academy for 10 years and concluded her teaching career with the Sherwood Oaks Preschool Program. Gwen dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior as a young girl and her heart was fixed upon the Lord. She had a love that reached out to others and she was an expression of His grace to the students she taught, the friends she served, and the family she raised. As stated in Proverbs 31:26, she spoke with wisdom, and faithful instruction was on her tongue. Gwen is survived by her loving husband, Leonard Scuffham, and her four children, Anne (Don) Nelson, Samuel (Jackmela) Cambron, Zachary Scuffham, and Sara (Zach) Price, as well as her three grandchildren, Olivia, Anabella, and Summer. Also surviving is her mother, Marie McLeod, her sister, Catherine McLeod, nephews, Lars and Ethan McLeod; sister in law, Karen Rodgers, and nephew, Tommy Rodgers. The funeral service will be Tuesday, June 21, at 11:00 am at Genesis Church, 801 East State Road, Bloomington, IN 47408. Friends may call at Allen Funeral Home, Monday, June 20, from 4 – 8:00 pm, and also preceding the service at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
