Helen Frances (Eads) Patton

Helen Frances (Eads) Patton, 91, of Bloomington, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, December 23, 2022. She passed away at Hearthstone Health campus surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born October 16, 1931, at her home in southern Monroe County. She was the daughter of James M. Eads and Bessie (Deckard) Eads. Helen grew up near the Nancy Jane Bridge in the Allens Creek area now covered by Lake Monroe. Helen attended Allen’s Creek, a one-room school along with her siblings, then Smithville High School. After graduation, she moved to Bloomington and worked at Sarkes Tarzian factory. She met Paul E. Patton in October 1949, and they married June 9, 1950. Paul and Helen were married for 44 years before he passed away on October 17, 1994. After Paul’s death, Helen became very independent and lived by herself until just a couple of weeks ago. She and her little white Bichon dog Buddy were great companions. Survivors include her son, Marcus E Patton (Bonnie), her daughter, Paula D Moen, grandchildren, Aaron J Patton (Ella), Amanda Crosby (Nick), P. Eric Patton, Tracy Patton, Justin Stewart (T.J.), Jeremy Stewart (Christy), Jessica Jones (Tyrone), and great-grandchildren, Elijah, Jacob, Samuel, Katie, Eliza, Tina, Kaylee, Alice, Elanna and Xander. She is also survived by sister-in-law Lenora Eads and several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, siblings Marshall Eads, Stanley Eads, Edward Eads, Ruby Robertson, Charles Eads, and Henry Eads, daughter Shirley Lynn Patton who passed at just eight months old in 1952, son Philip W Patton and son Roger K Patton who both passed in 2019. Helen attended Broadview Church of the Nazarene and later Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene. She loved the Lord and was ready to meet her Savior. Services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S Old State Road 37, Bloomington, Indiana. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm to service time Friday, December 30 2022 at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hearthstone Health campus for the compassion shown to both Helen and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Monroe County Humane Association in Helen’s honor. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with arrangements.
