Jeanne (Hackett) Starkey

Jeanne Starkey (Hackett) a recent resident of Bloomington Indiana passed on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the age of 96. Jeanne was born in Indianapolis. She is preceded in death by her most loved husband Patrick Starkey. Jeanne and Patrick were married for 73 years at his passing in 2020. Jeanne left behind their three children: Victoria (Joe) Davison, Deborah (Michael) Faynik, and Bryan (Carla) Starkey; and her five grandchildren: Morgan (Talyor) Valliant, Kristina (Daniel) Hill, Patrick Faynik, Ian Faynik, and Aaron Faynik; and her three step grandchildren: Melissa Welpott (Travis), April Davison, Dane Davison (Kelli); and four great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her parents; Lelia and Chester Hackett, her brother Chester “Bud” Hackett, sisters Della Davis, and Margret Timmons and twin sister JoAnne Magenheimer. Jeanne was a graduate of Howe H.S., in Indianapolis. In later years she attended St. Petersburg Junior College in Clearwater Florida and Bergen County Jr. College in Paramus, N.J., receiving her Associate of Art degree. Patrick’s work moved the family to New York, Florida, New Jersey, and finally back to Indiana. While in New York and New Jersey, Jeanne and Patrick enjoyed attending Theatre, Concerts and Museums in Manhattan. Jeanne became a true lover of Disney while living in Florida and attending Disney World and Epcot. Patrick and Jeanne enjoyed a vacation condo in Stuart Florida for 35+ years, and a visit to Disney World was at the beginning and the end of every trip to Florida. Jeanne thoroughly enjoyed sharing Disney with her family. She enjoyed Sewing and needle craft, Gardening, Painting, Cooking, American and Chinese Antiques, Nature walks and Bird watching. She was an avid reader and a world traveler. She planned family vacations around fun and education – Parks, Zoos, Museums, Historical sites, Concerts, and exploration of the United States. Sharing all of these interests/skills with her children and family was the best part for Jeanne. She felt that she could help open the door to learning opportunities for everyone. She was always active within her community: Home-Ec. club, Brownie Leader (Girl Scout and Boy Scout support), Fundraising for the Indianapolis Zoo, Supporting her children’s schools, Garden Club, Real Estate Agent, and an active member in the Christian Science church where ever they lived. Jeanne was a most loving and wonderful Wife, Mother and friend! Her beautiful Smile was a gift. Jeanne was the “straight man” for Patrick’s humor. They were a team! They are both Loved and missed.
