Jerry Olen Krebbs

Jerry Olen Krebbs, 85, of Bloomington passed away on Wednesday January 31, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on December 19, 1938 in Monroe County, Indiana, the son of Leonard Leon and Leona Faye (Brown) Krebbs. Jerry was a 1956 graduate of Unionville High School. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Anne Barger, on October 26, 1957 in Bloomington, Indiana. They were happily married for sixty-six years. Jerry’s professional life began in 1959 as an automotive technician at Benevole Lincoln Mercury in Bloomington. He proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Fort Hood, Tx, from 1961 to 1963. He later returned to his automotive passion, operating as a technician at Pal Deckard Ford in Bedford; owning multiple service stations; and as a service manager for Max Mingee Chrysler in Bloomington. In September of 1973, he and his wife started Jerry’s Diagnostic Center in Bloomington which he owned and operated until he retired in April of 2021. He was a member of the 11th St Pentecostal Church. Jerry was an amazing husband, father, and Pap. He loved his family and loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed his work, drag racing, and working on cars. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Jerry is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Phyllis Krebbs of Bloomington; his son, Jerry Dean (Shannon) Krebbs of Bloomington; his grandchildren, Ashley (Zack) Smiley; Kelsey (Alex Bucy) Krebbs; Jerred Chandler Krebbs all of Bloomington; and his great grandchildren, Quinn Mason Smiley; Wyatt Carter Smiley; Ellis Harrison Smiley; two brothers, Raymond Leon (Bobbie) Krebbs of Ellettsville; Tommy Keith Krebbs of Mitchell; three sisters, Retta Alene Newhouse of Carmel; Linda Lou Easton of Ellettsville; Della Mae (Larry) Rushton of Bloomington; four aunts, Sue Calvert; Ila Deckard; Juanita Wisley and Georgia Chambers; eight nieces; and twelve nephews; numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Leona Krebbs; Infant sister, Alma Jean Krebbs and a four-year-old sister, Phyllis Ann Krebbs. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, February 5, 2024 and Tuesday February 6, 2024 from 11:00am to time of service at the Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St Rd 37 Bloomington. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Tuesday February 6, 2024 With Rev. Mickey Douglas and Fred Barger officiating. Burial will follow at the Clear Creek Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the St Jude’s Childrens Hospital or the Monroe County Humane Society. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with arrangements.
