John Wayne Barrow

John Barrow passed on to receive his reward in heaven on March 10th, 2021. John was born on August 12th, 1941 in Bloomington, IN. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1960. John met the love of his life, Marilyn Barnes, at the Fun Frolic in 1963 and they married two weeks later on July 18th. John and Marilyn’s love affair lasted almost 58 years (July) and resulted in Three sons, Eleven grandchildren, Three great grandchildren, and one on the way. John also has a daughter from a previous relationship whom he loved dearly. John was of the Apostolic faith and taught Sunday School for many years. He was a Little League coach and was the first Little League coach in Monroe county to have a female assistant coach. He also taught Math and Accounting at Community Christian School (now Covenant Christian School). John had a long career of commercial sales, drove a school bus for Monroe County School system, and after semi-retiring, drove a bus for Bell Trace Senior Living Community for 10 years before fully retiring in 2018. John was soft spoken and always had a kind word for anyone he met. He was a great Bible scholar and loved to teach on the Bible. He was a passionate IU basketball and Colts football fan. But above all, he loved God and loved his family deeply. John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and one granddaughter, Whitney Barrow. He leaves behind his wife, Marilyn (Barnes), one daughter, Lisa Pemberton (David), his 3 sons, Randy (Tina), Trace (Susan), Rob (Tabitha), 9 grandchildren, Bobbi (Brett), Keith, Brenton (Korryn), Bethany, John Luke, Blake, Alivia, Kaleb, Sela, and Wyatt, and 4 great grandchildren, Emily, Brantley, Benjamin, and Benjamin’s sister on the way. There will be a Celebration of Life Service for friends and family on Saturday, March 20th at Turning Point Apostolic Church at 3:00 with visitation from 2:00 to 3:00. 210 West Vine St, Ellettsville, IN John is greatly missed by his family, but they rejoice in the fact that is now resting in the arms of God and is at peace.
