Joyce Ilene Deckard

Joyce Ilene Deckard, 79, passed away peacefully in Oklahoma City, OK on June 3, 2024 after an extended hospital stay with her family lovingly by her side. She is survived by a large family that loved and adored her to include her husband of 61 years, Edward Deckard; son, Stacey Deckard of Plano, TX, daughter, Wendy Parker and husband Ernest of Yukon, OK; grandchildren, Amanda Madden and Krista Martin of Blanchard, OK and Aaron Cornelison of Oklahoma City, OK; great grandchildren, Blake Madden of Washington, OK, Rylee Little of Oklahoma City , OK, Tannor Glandon, Beau Madden and Logan and Emersyn Martin of Blanchard, OK and Chance Cornelison of Bremerton, WA; sisters, RuthAnn Vaught and Donna Kinser of Bloomington, IN Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and father, Gilbert, and Helen Kinser; her brothers, Bill, Fred and Wendell Kinser and sisters, Doris Fender, Margie Ramsey, and Wyvetta Hodge all of Bloomington. IN. Joyce graduated from Smithville High School in 1962. Soon on May 17, 1963, she married the man that would be the love of her entire life, Airman Edward Deckard of Bloomington, IN. Once married they travelled the world together through Edward’s military career. First, they moved to Tacoma, Washington where they were stationed for three years and had a daughter, Wendy. They were then transferred to a base in Anchorage, AK where they remained for three years and in that time had a son, Stacey. In 1970 Joyce and Edward moved to Tyndall Air Force Base in the panhandle of Florida where they remained for seven years until transferred to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, OK. In 1982 they were stationed in Gelsenkirchen, Germany before heading back to Oklahoma City for Edward to retire. While they had many wonderful adventures in their 61 years of marriage, Joyce truly enjoyed spending every waking minute more than any other with “Eddie”, They were unquestionably meant to be together. She enjoyed their visits back and forth to Indiana to visit family and the little side trips they would throw in to see Kentucky, Tennessee or Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed him stopping at the pottery shops along the way and acting like he was having a great time looking at clay. She truly enjoyed sitting on the balcony at the beach in Destin, Florida any time of year they went with the family. She was her happiest when she was outdoors. She loved having flowers on the patio, working on art and crafts, and sitting outside her home on the patio with Edward. His presence made her calm and gave her security. The love they shared and that will always be in their hearts for each other is one that should be aspired to by all. A mutual respect and adoration that I’m not sure any other couple has ever had. Services to be held at 1:00pm Monday June 10, 2024 at the Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old State Rd 37, Bloomington. With Rev. Joe Nelson Officiating. Burial wil follow at the Smithville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00Am to Time of service also Monday, June 10, 2024 at the funeral home. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with arrangements.
