Karen Elissa (Rumba) Bahler

Karen Elissa (Rumba) Bahler, 36, of Bloomington passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on October 8, 1986 in Lafayette, Indiana the daughter of Nathaniel A. and Pamela J. (Ensweiler) Rumba. Karen was a 2005 graduate of Harrison High School in West Lafayette and a 2008 graduate of St Elizabeth School of Nursing where she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She went on to receiver her MSN from Southern Indiana University. She married the love of her life Brant Jackson Bahler on August 16, 2008 in Lafayette, Indiana. They moved to Bloomington directly after were they were happily married for fifteen years. Karen worked as a RN for the IU Health Bloomington Hospital and the Patient Care Director for the last 16 years. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She loved her family. They were her life. Karen enjoyed reading, working puzzles, playing board and card games, helping and taking care of people in need, visiting with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. Karen is survived by her husband, Brant Jackson Bahler; her children, Hailey Dunlap-Bahler; Jackson Bahler and Leo Bahler all of Bloomington; her parents, Nat and Pamela Rumba of West Lafayette; her brothers, Nathanael (Tonya) Rumba of Valparaiso; Grant (Angel) Rumba of Brookston; her sisters, Amanda Rumba of Lafayette; Kellie Rumba of Santa Teresa, NM; her in-laws, Barry and Jackie Bahler of West Lafayette; brother-in-law’s, Brandon Bahler Davenport; Brock (Amber) Bahler of Pittsburg, PA; Bryce Bahler of Seattle, WA; and Brogan (Coty) Bahler of Peoria, IL; a grandmother Olivia McCool; and an entire army of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends whom she dearly loved and laughed alongside. She was the glue of her family and the best of all of us. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Patricia (Murphy) Ensweiler; Frederick and Hannah (Ferguson) Rumba; Ed and Lois Bahler; and Jack McCool; an uncle Eric Ensweiler and a cousin, Megan Simko. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. With Rev John Winders Officiating. Burial Will Follow at the Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, and from 10:00am to service time on Saturday, August 19, 2023 also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to her family for the care of her children, or to the “Karen Bahler Nursing Scholarship,” thru the Allen Funeral Home.
