Karen Margaret Stryker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen M. Stryker. She left this world on October 27th, 2023 at 71 years of age, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will remain forever in the hearts of her friends and family. Karen was born on December 18th, 1951 in Glen Ridge, NJ. She was fortunate to be able to spend her summers at the Jersey shore, becoming an excellent water skier and developing her love of boating. A 1970 graduate of North Arlington H.S., she went onto receive her Assoc. degree and entered the job market where she had numerous careers. Her last position was at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, where she enjoyed working with the students. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter, boating at Lake Monroe, and cheering on her grandchildren at their activities, school events, and life. She was an avid football fan, cheering on IU and the Colts, even in their down years. Karen is survived by her husband, Robert, and children Brian (Rebecca) Stryker and Kevin (Katie) Stryker, and her six grandchildren, whom she adored—Ava, Liv, Kennedy, Andrew, Charlotte, and Quinn: all of Bloomington. She is also survived by her sister, Susan (Pat) Jurczak, and sister-in-law, Lynne Musulin, of New Jersey, and brother-in-law, Bill Aseltyne, of Connecticut, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Peter Marsh, and father, Robert Chisholm, Nicholas Musulin (brother-in-law), and Jeff Stryker (brother-in-law). Karen’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who know her. She was a pillar of strength for her family, providing unwavering support and guidance throughout the years. As we say goodbye to Karen, we remember the light she brought into our lives and the love she shared with us all. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Visitation will be held on November 4th, 2023, at 2pm at Allen Funeral Home (4155 S. Old State Rd. 37, in Bloomington), with funeral services to follow at 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The family wishes to thank the numerous providers over the years who helped Karen on her journey navigating her MS and continue to champion the research efforts to end this illness. May her soul rest in peace.
