Leland Scott Burkett III

Devasted to announce the passing of Leland Scott Burkett, III, Age 34, of Bloomington, Indiana & Palm Bay, Florida. 'Scotty' was born in Bloomington on Feb. 12, 1983 & 'crossed-over' Jan. 12, 2018. Scotty's favorite & most proud event of his life was the birth of his wonderful son, Chaz. More than anything Scotty enjoyed spending time with him. He would often call Chaz by cute nicknames, such as; 'Chazzie-Bear', 'Chazburger' & 'Chazzle-Dazzle'. His love for his precious Chaz is unconditional & endless. Scotty was kind, gentle & very intuitive. He had a quick wit & fantastic sense of humor. He was a very special unique individual. Handsome & charming, with gorgeous eyes & a beautiful & friendly smile. >From years of working along side his dad, Scotty had impressive skills in most areas of the construction industry. He often made the comment that his dad was the hardest worker he had ever met. Scotty was a huge movie fanatic. He greatly enjoyed many films but his fave was 'Life Aquatic' with Bill Murray. He also enjoyed watching 'Vikings' & other shows, then excitedly talking about latest episodes with his 'Mamaw Sharon' (who he loves so dearly). He had a vast & varied taste in music & was a great dancer. Good at anything he put his mind to! Most everyone that knows him knows how he could be so obssesive about his hair being 'just right' & about his clothes... So much so that it often became comical. He liked traveling.. Often going back & forth to Florida & also liked when he lived near New Orleans, LA His #1 fave food was pizza (just like Chaz). Scotty is survived by: His parents; Leland Scott Burkett, Jr & Karen Elaine Robertson. His beloved sister; Brandy (Lan) Cartwright, of Bloomington... (I think Scotty & Brandy knew eachother better than anyone.) They loved & will continue to love eachother beyond measure. His precious son; Chaz Scott Burkett & Chazs' mother; Hailee Winters-Burkett. His paternal grandparents; Leland S. Burkett, Sr & Patsy A. Burkett of Palm Bay, Florida. Who so generously & graciously welcomed Scotty into their home when he would go to Florida. Feeding him lots of 'Grandma's' delicioushome-cooking. His maternal grandparents; Greg A. Mezger & Sharon K. Osborne-Mezger of Bloomington, IN. Have been so kind & caring to Scotty his entire life, I am forever grateful to them. He loved them both so much. They made so many wonderful memories together, that Scotty truely cherished. He loved the Russian Tea Cakes his 'Mamaw Sharon' regularly would make for him. They meant the world to eachother! He is also survived by aunt's & uncle's; Larry Campbell, 'Bruce' Burkett, Steve Burkett, Ami Burkett, Steve & 'Rusty' Neal, Melody & 'Bobby' Purtlebaugh. Several grand/great aunt's & uncle's & numerous Cousins, too many to name separately; wish I could. Three other very special people to Scotty, is his nephews; Brayden Michael Pemberton, Gavin Lee-Scott Pemberton & Preston James Rogers. Scotty was absolutely crazy about each one of these boys! 'Uncle Scotty' truely loved them even more than they already know. He enjoyed aggravating & giving them lots & lots of advice. He had fun with them doing things like; playing basketball, outings with he & Chaz or just talking their ears off, lol. Brayden, Gavin & Preston will forever be 'Uncle Scotty's' extra special 'Buds', fr. ...Scotty had a multitude of friends & special people in his life that meant so much to him. I feel grateful knowing he was so loved. I wish I could list you all. He is preceded in 'crossing over' by; maternal grandfather Homer E. Robertson, Aunt Pam (Burkett) Campbell, cousins Michael Hovious & Marta (Hovious) Ward plus too many friends who also seemed to have left too soon: Jason Estep, Dustin Sims, 'Chuck', Hendrix Steele & Hunter. It is a comfort for me to know that he trusted in God & is a baptized Christian. Ohh Sweet Scotty... May God bless your one-of-a-kind beautiful soul...
