Leon D. "Bine" Young

Leon D. “Bine” Young, 91, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his family. Leon was born on January 16, 1928 in Brown County, Indiana to Floyd Fremont and Lena Mae (Fritch) Young. He was a graduate from Helmsburg High School in 1946. Shortly after graduation he joined the US Army. After his service he went to college in Indianapolis and he also received his Certificate of Trade thru the Chicago Motive Trades Institute. He married the love of his life Patricia Ruth Bunge on September 25, 1949 at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, they spent 70 wonderful years together and had 6 children. Leon started working as a mechanic for Graham Motors and he also worked for Benevole Lincoln Mercury Sales and Service, he was owner of Mobil Service Station at 600 S. Walnut St in Bloomington, and then worked for Alvie Wilson Trucking and as a mechanic for 30 years for United Parcel Service retiring in 1990. Leon was a member of St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church he was also a volunteer for the Boys Scouts and Cub Scouts. He loved to travel, riding horses, wood working, carpentry and western movies. Leon was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be Greatly missed. Leon is survived by his daughters, Katherine Carlson of Greenwood, Rebecca (Harold “Duane”) Smith of Bloomfield, Donna (David) Marrs, and Bonnie Hawkins both of Bloomington; sons, Randall (Nancy) Young of Sandy, OR, Robin (Michelle) Young of Indianapolis; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Patricia R. Young and his sister Virginia Young. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, and again from 10:00am until service time on Thursday at the church.
