Madge Evelyn Brinegar

Madge Evelyn Brinegar, 92 of Bloomington passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington, Indiana. Madge was born on July 25, 1927 in Hendricks County, IN the daughter of Ernest and Hazel (Breedlove) Games. She was the tenth of eleven children and the last surviving of her siblings. She married John Edward Brinegar on July 2, 1946 in Harrodsburg, IN. She was a homemaker but could easily be found in the garage under one of John’s cars helping him with whatever needed fixed, using the tiller to prepare her garden or up on a ladder painting or swinging a hammer. She loved cooking and took great joy in teaching not only her daughter Michelle, but her granddaughter Lindsay as well. Madge was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, planting not only vegetables but beautiful flowers, sitting outside in the sunshine reading and in her later years, puzzles. Madge loved playing board games and cards, especially euchre and rummy while spending time with her family and friends. She was a force to be reckoned with and a warrior and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. Madge is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl (James) Allaire of St. Cloud, Minnesota; Michelle (Dale) Pauley of Bloomington; her grandchildren Lindsay (Jim) Moore of Bloomington; Christian Brinegar of Buffalo, New York; Zack Pauley (fiancée Savannah Oldham) of Bloomington; Micah Brinegar of Columbus, IN along with many nieces and nephews. She loved when her nieces Susie Brown, Linda Stark, Lois Chambers and Lillian Dick would stop in and visit. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 50 years John, two sons Mark A. Brinegar and Brian C. Brinegar, along with her ten brothers and sisters. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, July 19th from 1:30 to 4:00 at the shelter house at the New Unionville Baptist Church, 6020 E. St. Rd. 45, Bloomington 47408 . Cremation Rites have been accorded. She will be buried at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Memorial Contributions may be made in Madge’s memory to the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard.
