Marilyn (Grabbe) Ellis Fender

Marilyn (Grabbe) Ellis Fender, 90, of Bloomington passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Stonecroft Health Campus. She was born on April 6, 1932 in Vincennes, Indiana the daughter of Gilbert William and Hilda Emma (Stoelting) Grabbe. Marilyn was a 1950 graduate of Bicknell High School and a 1953 graduate of Indiana Business College in Vincennes, Indiana. She worked in the office as a customer service representative at Public Service of Indiana from 1951 until she retired in 1994 both in Bicknell and in Bloomington offices. Marilyn was a member of the Bethel Church in Freelandville, Indiana where she was confirmed in 1946, she was also a member of the St Olive Chapter of the Eastern Star where she was installed as Worthy Matron in 1959, she was a member of the Zeta Chapter of Delta Theta Tau for 71 years, she would work with her sorority sisters every year at the Monroe County Fair serving food at the Dairy Barn. She also was very involved and delivered meals with Meals on Wheels in Bloomington. She loved to travel, playing cards like hand and foot or euchre with her family, shopping, all animals especially her cats. She will be greatly missed. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Frank Fender of Bloomington; her stepchildren, Anita McPike of Ellettsville; Angela Ellis of Bloomington; a niece, Susan Grabbe Tidrow of McCordsville; a nephew, Bradley Grabbe of Plainfield; several great nieces and nephews; a cousin, Jean (Kent) Burgess of Bloomington her loving friends, Linda (Don) Stipp and Greta Thombleson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Donald Ellis; a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Creva Grabbe; a nephew Ronald Tidrow. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 S. Old St Rd 37 Bloomington. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Bethel Cemetery in Freelandville, Indiana. A reception will follow at the Bethel Church in Freelandville right after the service. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Bethel Church or the Zeta Chapter of Delta Theta Tau Sorority.
