Mary Rose Lawson

Mary Rose Lawson, daughter of Lloyd and Evelyn (Brewer) Williams was born February 14, 1934 in Campbellsburg, Indiana and passed away on January 16, 2023 at Richland Bean Blossom nursing home in Ellettsville at the age of 79. She was married to Floyd Kent Lawson September 5, 1965 in Bloomington, Indiana. To this union, a son was born, Chris. They were married for 57 years. They raised their son in Bloomington, Indiana. Rose worked outside of the home for 27 years at RCA and served as an office manager at Weddle Brothers in Bloomington. She enjoyed all the time she spent in the gym watching her son Chris play basketball both in Indiana, Nashville, across the United States and overseas. Rose cherished her family. She loved her sister, Shirley, and enjoyed their adventures together. Hikes through the Grand Canyon, Indiana State parks, and Flordia road trips were among her favorites. Rose also found her happy place helping her brother Ronnie in his vegetable garden during the hot summer months. Rose was perhaps most excited about her title of Grandma when Chris and Kim had their first child in 2003. She delighted in the fact that her first grand baby, Olivia, had gorgeous red hair that fit right in with the Lawson’s. Rose had her hands full when her twin grandchildren, Ava and Eli, were born in 2005. She completed many trips back and forth to Kansas to lend a hand to her daughter in law, Kim. Rose had many cherished dogs throughout her life. She enjoyed spending time outdoors with her four legged friends. Her most recent companion, Tucker, was perhaps her favorite. Throughout her battle with Alzheimer’s. she could still remember the loyal friendship that Tucker provided. Chris and Kim Lawson would also like to recognize Kent’s tremendous courage, patience, and love in care taking care of Rose since diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Survivors include her husband Kent Lawson of Bloomington, son Chris (Kim) Lawson of Bennington, Kansas, grandchildren Olivia, Ava, and Eli, sister Shirley (Eric) Lawson of Mooresville, Indiana, brother Ronnie (Donna) Williams of Salem, Indiana, nephew Matt (Amanda) Lawson of Mooresville, In, great nephews Noah, Bo, and Asher Lawson, nephew Adam (Kirsten) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and great niece Palmer. Rose was preceded in death by both of her parents and brother, Cecil Williams of Campbellsburg, Indiana. Cremation was selected. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 South Old State Road 37, Bloomington, have been entrusted with arrangements.
