Matthew W. "Matt" Knapp

Matthew W. “Matt” Knapp, 42, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 at his home after a sudden illness. Matthew was born on June 8, 1981 in Indianapolis, Indiana at St. Francis Hospital, son of Kent Lee Knapp Jr. and Wendy Kay Hart. He attended Martinsville High School. He met the love of his life, Sarah Nicole Collins on August 3rd, 2019 on a park bench at Griffy Lake in Bloomington, IN. Their first date was at the Indiana Toy and Comic Expo 2019 in Bloomington. They were married on April 24, 2021 in her parents’ backyard. In Bloomington, Matthew worked at Rural King, Firestone, Community Chrysler, NAPA Auto Parts, Curry Auto Center, Sternberg International, Go Express Travel, and Walmart. He was in the final stages of receiving his CDL. Mathew was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Bloomington, and attended City Church as well as The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints both in Bloomington. He enjoyed fishing, playing X-box especially Tom Clancy’s Division II. He was a self-taught guitar player, in the process of learning to the play the bass guitar; he had eclectic taste in music. Matthew loved his dogs, meeting and connecting with people and was always ready with a joke (or two). He will be greatly missed. Matthew is survived by his wife, Sarah N Knapp of Bloomington; his mother, Wendy Hart of Plainfield; two brothers, Richard (Heather) Knapp and Daryl (Rachel) Knapp; his grandmother, Anna Dusing; two uncles, Jeffery Hart and Scott Hart, four aunts, Debbie Hart, Polly Polley, Jackie Shepherd and Katrina (Kevin) Spurr; his in-laws Sherrie (Dave) Everton of Bloomington and Roy Collins of Ellettsville; sister-in-law’s, Sierra (Kenji) Kuriyama-Granados and Nikki (Seth) Givans; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Kent Lee Knapp Jr. and his son Ryan Matthew Knapp as well as his grandparents Nancy Lincoln, Kent Lee Knapp Sr. and Jack E. Hart.
