Paul Brooks Thrasher

Paul Brooks Thrasher passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on October 25, 2019. He was the son of Brooks (Tony) and Marjorie (Fowler) Thrasher, he was born on October 5, 1930, in Harrodsburg, Indiana He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Army from 1951 – 1954. After his military service, he returned to the Bloomington area and married Vivian Sutherlin on May 1st, 1955. Paul worked in the Bloomington area his entire life at various jobs, he eventually landed a position at the U.S. Postal Service where he retired after 32 years. He was a member of South Union Christian Church. Paul was the caretaker of Clover Hill Cemetery for 20 years and enjoyed wood working, spending time with his beloved family, and farming with his dad on the family farm. Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vivian; two sisters, JoAnn Sowders and Janice Fidler of Bloomington, Indiana. He is also survived by his two sons, Scott (Wendy) Thrasher of Crystal Fall, Michigan and John (Diane) Thrasher of Bloomington, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Haley Thrasher of Bloomington, IN, Lacy (Tony) Santilli of Rhinelander, WI, Kody (Mina) Thrasher of Dusseldorf, Germany, Jamey (Chelsey) McCole of Crystal Falls, MI, Rikki (McCole) Rouse and Donald Wolak of Crystal Falls, MI, Jared Stanek of Iron Wood, MI, and Jordan (Sarah) Stanek of Crystal Falls, MI. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Kyler and Siiri Rouse, Ryan and Easton McCole, all of Crystal Falls, MI, and Kenedy and Quinn Santilli of Rhinelander, WI. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Thrasher, and two grandchildren, Ryan McCole and Joey Stanek. Visitation for Paul will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington, with services beginning at 6:00 p.m. Rev. Jimmy Cain will officiate and Military Honors will be provided by the Monroe County Honor Guard. The family would like to thank the staff of the IU Health Hospice House for the wonderful care given to Paul and his family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s memory to IU Health Bloomington Hospice House or The Veteran’s Association.
