Penny Star Terrell

Penny Star Terrell of Bloomington, after fighting the good fight against Lupus for over 21 years, passed away Sunday May 23, 2010 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was 46 years old. For over 21 years Penny has endured more than what is reasonable, has shown patience beyond what is believable, and displayed courage beyond what is expected. We can’t put into words our admiration, respect, and love for Penny. Watching her has taught us more than any other experience about living. We try not to fear because we’ve seen true courage. We try not to be impatient because we’ve seen true patience. We try not to be self-centered because we’ve seen true unselfishness. Her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ made it all possible. The things that happen to us in our lives can either make us bitter, or they can make us better. We celebrate Penny because through 21 and ½ years of trials, illnesses, and disappointments, she refused to be bitter, and decided to be better. And because of her, so do we. Penny was born January 15, 1964 in Bloomington to Boyd “Wheelbar” Koontz and Helen Flinn Koontz. She was a 1982 graduate of Bloomington High School North and a member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship. Penny leaves behind her husband of 22 years Ed Terrell and their children Caleb and Marissa Terrell of Bloomington; mother Helen Flinn Koontz of Bloomington; brother Tab Koontz and his wife Susan of Spencer; brother Craig Koontz of Bloomington; brother Alan Koontz and his wife Jeanette of Altus, Oklahoma; and brother David Koontz of Bloomington. She was preceded in death by her father Boyd Koontz and her in-laws, Lowell and Carolyn Terrell. Visitation for Penny will be held today, May 25, 2010 at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Wednesday May 26, 2010 at the Allen Funeral Home at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon. Pastor David Wigington will be presiding and burial will follow at Garrison Chapel Cemetery.
