Phillip Wayne Hudson

Phillip Wayne Hudson, 77, of Bloomington, IN met his Savior on April 26, 2025. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home. He was born on March 15, 1948, to Charles and Faye (Abram) Hudson of Hendricksville, IN. He and his loving wife, Sherry (Wagner) Hudson, were united in marriage on April 19, 1980, and recently celebrated their 45th anniversary. Phillip learned the value of hard work and craftsmanship from a young age. He began his journey in plumbing while still in middle school under the guidance of his father. After graduating from Eastern High School, he began a full-time plumbing career, eventually retiring from HFI, Inc. He was a master of his craft for commercial and residential plumbing, continually seeking further training and acquiring numerous certifications, including medical gas installation. Even after work hours, he provided phone guidance for family and friends far and wide. He was a member of UA Local 136 Plumbers & Steamfitters, the Masonic lodge, and Solsberry Christian Church. With a deep love for the outdoors, he found peace in nature. Some of his happiest days were spent fishing and hunting with friends and his brother Mike. He passed that passion on to his children and grandchildren. Phillip’s legacy is not just in his accomplishments but in how he made others feel supported and loved. Today, we remember a man whose presence brought peace, wisdom, and unwavering love into the lives of all who knew him. Phillip was the very definition of a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a quiet, steady strength at the center of his family. He lived with integrity and fairness, guided by humility and a quick wit that could lift spirits even in difficult moments. Phillip was the kind of man who stepped up without being asked, whether it was lending a hand, offering advice, or simply being there. He gave of himself with no expectation in return. Helping others was not just something he did; it was part of who he was. He taught by example how to live with compassion and courage. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing he lives on in every act of kindness we pass forward. Phillip was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose love for his family was evident throughout his life. He loved attending school events, recitals, and sporting events, big or small. He was always there, whether it was cheering from the stands, helping with a project, or offering a ride at the last minute. He believed in showing up and did so with a warm smile and open heart. He was blessed with life-long friendships that meant the world to him. Younger brother Mike was not only family but a trusted confidant and closest friend. Randy Abram stood by his side from childhood through every season and adventure in life. Their bond was unshakable and full of memories. Greg Tate, a fellow plumber and loyal friend, shared years of hard work, laughter, and mutual respect. These three men were more than friends to Phillip; they were brothers in every way. Phillip is survived by his wife, Sherry Hudson; his son Brandon (Cassie) Hudson of Bloomington, IN; his daughters Jeannette Stolz (Ted Ladyman) of Bloomington, IN, Susie Hammersley of Ogden, IL, and Kelly (Tim) Black of Ocean Springs, MS; his grandchildren Courtney (Tony) Moronez, Ashley (Tim) Leffler, Taylor (Jimmy) Rutledge, David Stolz, Joseph Stolz, Katherine Stolz, Zarena (Connor) Causey, and Zack Black; his great-grandchildren Drewanna, Gabriel, Aspyn, Maddux, Kyler, Joanna, Vivian, Jack, Brantley, Jensen, and Nataliya; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a loving brother to Brenda (Billy) Watkins and Michael (Becky) Hudson, both of Solsberry, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, uncles, and an aunt. Funeral services for Phillip will be held at Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington, IN on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 11am. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Hendricksville. Visitation will be held Thursday evening May 1, 2025, from 4-7pm and from 10-11am on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home.
