Phyllis A. Johnson

Phyllis A. Johnson, 96, of Bloomington, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Majestic Care in Bedford, Indiana. She was born on December 30, 1927, in Bloomington, Indiana the daughter of Frank Elmer and Lucy (Carrie) Caroline (Flynn) Duncan. Phyllis was a 1945 graduate of Smithville High School. She married the love of her life Robert Lowell Johnson on September 28, 1947 in Harrodsburg, Indiana. They were happily married for sixty-three years. Phyllis was a member of the Hillside Church of Christ, and a Quilting Club. She was a homemaker and an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. Phyllis's primary focus in life was serving the Lord faithfully and wholeheartedly and being a wonderful example to her family and friends. She loved her family and spending time with them especially with her grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, working outside in the yard and gardening, window shopping and playing cards, she will be greatly missed. Phyllis is survived by her sons, Thomas (Georgia) Johnson of Bedford; Philip Johnson of Bedford; She was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson Shields (Scott) ; Ben Johnson; Alexis (Mike) Robinson; Erica (Brandon) Nikirk and Bryant (Betty) Johnson; twelve great-grandchildren, Charlotte; Brenna; Corbin; Lillian; Gunner; Macie; Gracie; Kaden; Keegan; Braxton; Kaylee and Ethan; and also, many nieces; nephews and cousins. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lucy (Carrie) Duncan; her husband, Robert Johnson; son Monty Johnson; one great grandson, Eli; five brothers, Gilbert Duncan; Russell Duncan; Orville Duncan; Paul Duncan and Frank Duncan Jr.; six sisters, Tinza Turner; Christina Polley; Erse Siscoe; Nancy Duncan; Dorothy Merritt and Marie Thomas. A funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday April 16, 2024 at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 S. Old St Rd 37 Bloomington. With Brother Raymond Stiner officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm of Monday April 15, 2024 and from 10:00am to time-of-service Tuesday April 16, 2024 also at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with arrangements.
