Retha Pearl Conolty

Retha P. Conolty (Richardson) passed away peacefully Friday June 28, 2024 at home with her family surrounding her. She was born on November 10, 1936. She was the daughter of John Richardson and Ella (Deckard) Richardson. She was the youngest of seven children. She was a graduate of Smithville High School. Retha spent most of her career as an attendant at the Highland Village Laundry and a custodian at Indiana University. When she was not working, she was always cooking “something for someone”, famous for her yeast rolls, strawberry pies, and Mickey Mouse Pancakes. Retha loved all her family and friends dearly and was happiest while spending time with them. She loved staying the night with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, always reminding them, “I love you; a Bushel and a Peck, and a Hug around the Neck!” She loved watching birds from the window, drawing pictures for her family, doing crossword puzzles, and reading a lot of books. She lived a wonderful life, as she would say, and did all the things she wanted to. She always had a story to offer, and generous hugs and kisses to bestow on her loved ones. Retha would always say “Don’t cry when I die, just look outside for the red cardinal and you know I will be watching over you”. Retha, is survived by her children Kenny Conolty (Lorie) of Worthington; Tammy Cummings(John) of Solsberry; and Kelly Clark (Brad) of Bloomington; her grandchildren Charity Inman (Kip), Daniel Cummings (Meagan), Tiffany Quintero-Francisco (Jose), Christopher Clark (Candice), John Cummings (Chandra), Jared Conolty (Alicia), Stephanie Westerfield, Natalie Abner (Matt), Jessica Earle (David), Nathan Clark (Danielle), Laura Moore-Gelinas, and Stephen Moore; and her great-grandchildren Taylor (Bryton), Kody, Keaton, Kenley, Hannah (Ben), Alyssa, Saydee, Jayden, Isabel, Gabriela, Jackson, Israel, Greyson, Gabe, Sawyer, Evelyn, Trevor, Cora, Kendall, Bryar, Ian, Aivry, Jordan, Hunter, Maddilyn, William, Anna, Amelia, Monroe, Addison, Jack, and Bailee; her brother-in-law Larry Conolty (Wanda), and Sisters-in-Law Betty Richardson, Sue Eagan, Nancy Sowder and Patty Moore, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Conolty; daughter Traci Inman; grandson Stephen Westerfield; brothers, Jim, John, Henry, and George Richardson, and sisters Magdalene Fox and Cora Kinser, and her much loved dog Heidi. A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, with the funeral service immediately following at 7:00 pm, with Reverend Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at the Smithville Cemetery. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with the arrangements.
