Richard Leon "Dick" Needy

Richard Leon “Dick” Needy, 77, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at The Majestic Care in Bloomington after an extended illness. Dick was born on January 14, 1947 in Bloomington, Indiana the son of Richard Price and Betty Jane (Hicks) Needy. He was 1966 graduate of Bloomington High School. Dick and Linda L. Underwood were married on February 18, 1977 in Bloomington, Indiana they were married for forty-seven years. Dick was a US Air Force Veteran proudly serving for four years, and obtained the rank of Sgt while serving at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii in April of 1969, and finished his service at Sawyer Air Force Base in Michigan in 1971. His first job was when he was a boy as a pin-setter in a bowling alley on Kirkwood in Bloomington, he also did a paper rout with his mother, Dick worked at Metropolitan Printing in Bloomington and Shepard & Poorman Printing in Indianapolis for many years, he also worked at Crosstown Cleaners in Bloomington, Coke a Cola as a Salesman, and then at Beasley Produce for many years. Dick was a member of Woodhaven Christian Church, and the American Legion Post #18 in Bloomington. He was a car guy he loved cars and going to car shows in Indianapolis, he also enjoyed motorcycles, he was an avid animal lover, they always had at least three dogs and cats. He loved his family and getting together with his family. He will be greatly missed. Dick is survived by his wife, Linda L. Needy of Bloomington; his children, Pamela (Fred) Jones of Booneville; Jeffrey (Krisinda) Needy of Clarksville, Tenn; Mark (Kristen) Needy of Mooresville; seven grandchildren, Nick Jones; Chris (Layg) Jones; Katherine (Jon) Faulkner; Reeanna Needy; Kaleigh Needy; Breanna Payton; Evan Needy; two great grandsons, Edward Jones and Theodore Faulkner; two sisters, Becky Morefield of Greenwood; Connie (John) Blackwell of Paducah, KY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Betty Needy; and one grandson, Alan Needy. A private burial was held for the family at Valhalla Memory Gardens. In lieu of flower the family ask that memorial contributions be made to Veterans Service In Dick’s honor. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with arrangements.
