Ronald Jay "Ron" Killion

Ron passed away peacefully at Stonecroft Health Campus on February 21, 2019 surrounded by family. He had a very eventful life and passion for business. Ron told his family that he wanted to live to be 80, and he had a wonderful party on his birthday February 16 with his family. He was a Veteran of the US Army, a builder, developer, and owned many businesses in Bloomington. He developed and built FMHA homes, Westbury Village, High Pointe, Tenth and the Bypass, and several villages at The Pointe. He had many businesses and partnerships, including Warehouse Carpet, Westbury Furniture, Gentry Group, Industrial Park and retired after the beautiful Pedigo Bay was started. Lake Monroe was his getaway, He loved his family homes on Maple Leaf Drive, Walnut St Pike, and Cleve Butcher Road. He provided all the amenities to his kids, their friends, and hosted family reunions, parties and poker nights. He once said he has done everything he’s wanted to do. He was an incredible athlete. He was a pilot, he loved football, basketball, golfing (hitting a hole in one), water and snow skiing, boating, and especially loved his Jeeps. He taught many of the kid’s friends how to ski and drive. He enjoyed taking people on Jeep rides where no one had ever been before. Ron is survived by his children; Kim (Brian) Nicholson, Pam (Tim) Mitchell both of Bloomington, grandchildren; Lexi Brock, Clay and Clara Mitchell, Celena, Lane, and Wyatt Borders, his sister Beth Lawyer of Bloomington, his brothers; Ken Killion of Washington State, Steve (Ann) Killion of Georgia, and Dan (Cynthia) Killion of Bloomington, his brother-in-law’s; Bill Galloway and Chester Edwards both of MO, and friend and mother of his children Judy Linthicum and friend Joyce Bourque and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Jr. and Clara (Hougland) Killion, sisters Sonya Galloway and Vonda Edwards, and recently a brother-in-law Dan Lawyer. The family wishes to thank his caregiver son-in-law Brian who was Ron’s caregiver for the last three years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, American Cancer Society, or Heart to Heart Hospice. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the summer.
