Sharon K. White

Sharon K. White, 74, of Bloomington passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at her home with her loving husband by her side. She was born on April 22, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana the daughter of C. William and Kathleen (Wright) Hoffman. Sharon was a 1970 graduate of Indiana University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business. She wed the love of her life David Earl White on August 22, 1970 in Southport, Indiana. They were happily married for fifty-two years. Sharon retired from Indiana University in 2005 after a long and successful career in various roles at Residential Programs & Services and the Indiana University Alumni Association. Her proudest role, however, was being a dedicated and loving Mother to beloved son Kevin W. White. She was an avid euchre fan, and greatly enjoyed playing the game with friends and family. She also loved watching birds, especially bluebirds and hummingbirds, and other wildlife from her picture window overlooking the backyard. A faithful Hoosiers fan her entire life, Sharon watched nearly every IU basketball & football game, and even attended the 1968 Rose Bowl and 1987 NCAA National Championship games in person. The “IU Gals” held a very special place in her heart; for more than 50 years their friendship withstood the test of time and distance. Above all, Sharon was a loving wife and mother. She will be greatly missed. Sharon is survived by her husband, David E. White of Bloomington; her son, Kevin (Erin) White of Bloomington; her sister, Judy McDonald of Hendersonville, NC. She was preceded in death by parents, C. William and Kathleen Hoffman. A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, October 21, 2022 at the Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Rd. 37 Bloomington. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until the time of service also Friday, October 21, 2022 at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sharon’s honor to the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with arrangements.
