Susan Jane Kensill

Susan Jane Kensill, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully in the arms of her beloved husband on December 11, 2025, at the age of 71. Born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana, Susan lived a life defined by compassion, dedication, and deep love for her family. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Bartlett, her mother Hilda Bartlett, and her sister Cindy Bartlett, all of whom she carried in her heart throughout her life. Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Mike Kensill; her sister Sally Gerber; her son, Justin Kensill; her daughter, Megan Bowerman and husband Matt Bowerman, as well as her three treasured grandsons, Elijah, Noah, and Asher Bowerman, who were the absolute joy of her life. Susan attended University High School before pursuing her calling in nursing. She earned her Registered Nursing degree from Vincennes University, graduating summa cum laude, a reflection of both her intelligence and tireless work ethic. She devoted 47 years to the nursing profession, a career rooted in service and empathy, and concluded her remarkable journey as Surgical Services Team Lead Director at Community South Surgery Center in Greenwood, Indiana. Her leadership, professionalism, and unwavering care for patients and colleagues alike left a lasting legacy. Outside of her career, Susan was an avid traveler, with a special love for St. Martin, where she and her husband owned and operated a business for several years. Those years were filled with adventure, friendship, and cherished memories. Above all else, Susan’s greatest joy was her family—especially time spent in Atlanta, visiting her grandsons. She doted on them endlessly, spoiling them at every opportunity and filling their lives with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. To them, she was not just a grandmother, but a constant source of comfort and joy. Susan will be remembered for her kindness, strength, generosity, and the profound love she shared so freely. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family she loved so dearly. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37 has been entrusted with the services for Susan. The family will receive friends and family from 12:00PM noon until 2:00PM Friday, January 9, 2026 at the funeral home.
