Teddy Bird Summitt Jr.

Teddy Bird Summitt Jr., 61, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 11th, 2025. Born on August 24, 1963, in Bloomington, Indiana, Teddy was the youngest of ten siblings and the son of Doris Anna Martin and Teddy Bird Summitt Sr. Teddy was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Vickie Ann Littlejohn and Nancy Sue Phillips. Ted leaves behind his children, Taylor Deshon Feuquay, nee Summitt, 31, Kaitlyn Michele Summitt, 27, Matthew Martin Summitt, 21, and Victoria Fayann Summitt, 18, along with bonus daughter Kian Rio, 21. He also leaves behind his siblings, Jerry Bird Summitt, Theresa Mae Christy, Terry Dale Summitt, Betty Faye Summitt, Robin Lee Wampler, Robert Mathew Summitt, and Kenneth Ray Summitt, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ted was a proud father, full of life, grounded in modesty, and possessed a strong work ethic. It was often said that he could fix anything. After receiving his General Educational Development Diploma, Teddy graduated from Ivy Tech Community College, where he received his Associate of Science in Heating and Cooling, which he then used to run his own maintenance business for a number of years. Outside of work, Ted enjoyed the simple pleasures of life as well as coin collecting, singing classic country songs, dabbling in conspiracies, and being a history buff. Teddy often could be found with a cup of reheated Folger’s coffee in hand, sitting on a truck tailgate, enjoying the bold flavor of a Marlboro cigarette. This is where he found peace. His spirit will live on in his canine companion, Cooper, the Golden Retriever. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Indiana Donor Network or any reputable organ donation organization of your choice in honor of a life-saving donation received by his daughter, Victoria. Thank you. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 South Old State Road 37, who is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Walker's Chapel Cemetery in Kirksville.
