Lt. Col. Terra Leigh Callahan M.D.

Terra Leigh (Wilson) Callahan, 47, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on July 8, 2026. Her strong Christian faith and courage were a testament to all those who knew her. She is now in the arms of God. Terra was born August 30, 1978 in Marion County, IN to Penny (Neighbors) and Robert Wilson. She grew up in Indiana and Pennsylvania, graduating from the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities in 1996. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Indiana University in May 2002 and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army that same month. Terra met her husband, John T. Callahan, in 1999 through a college friend, one of Johnny’s sisters. Family lore says they first felt a spark at that sister’s wedding in 2003, where Terra served as a bridesmaid. Terra and Johnny married April 30, 2005 at Garfield Park in Indianapolis. Together, they welcomed five children, who were the light of her life, and celebrated 21 years of a loving marriage. Terra earned her Medical Degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in May 2006. She completed her residency at Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Ft Gordon in Augusta, GA and developed numerous friendships both there and during her postings in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and Ft. Campbell, KY. Terra served in the US Army for over 18 years, attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel before retiring in 2021. Terra loved spending time with her family and friends. She had a gift for friendship, keeping high school and college friends all through her life, while making new friends wherever she went. She was generous with her time, loved to travel, and cherished her children. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, John T. Callahan; her children, Skyler, Haven, Micah, Scarlette, and Silas; her mother, Penny Wilson; her brother, Mark, (Stephanie) Wilson, Rodney Wilson, her sisters, Tamy (Bill) Roberts and Gayle Geiger; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Terra was preceded in death by her father, Robert “Bob” Wilson; two brothers, Michael Wilson and Robert L Wilson, II; one infant niece, Molly Lewen; and one infant nephew, Chance Callahan Funeral services for Terra will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 2:00PM at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37. Visitation will also be held Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Allen Funeral Home from 11AM to the time of the service at 2:00PM.
