Valerie Bouvier Lindsey

Valerie Bouvier Lindsey, 68, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at IU Health Hospice House, the day after celebrating the 46th anniversary of her marriage to Bob Lindsey. Valerie was born in Bloomington, Indiana on September 26, 1956, to Ida Bouvier and Raymond Bouvier. Valerie grew up in Bloomington and graduated with honors from Bloomington High School South. She attended Indiana University where she earned both a BS from the School of Business and an MS in Education. She was an outstanding educator and business owner. Her long teaching career spanned over 40 years. It began at IU Bloomington, followed by Franklin Central High School during which time she also taught at IUPUI and Central Nine Vocational. She concluded her career at Bloomington High School North, while simultaneously teaching at Ivy Tech. She served in many roles as a sponsor for various student groups and activities. She was loved and respected by all who knew her and was an inspirational teacher that truly cared about her students. Many of those students would continue their studies in the field of business. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa International Education Association. She and her husband owned the Bloomington Driving School for 20 years, where she was also an instructor. Valerie loved attending the concerts of her favorite groups. She and Bob enjoyed sending out pictures and clips of the music while they were watching a performance. She was part of a loving and caring family and was devoted to them. They were foremost in her life. Holidays and special occasions were always celebrated together. Many weekends she and Bob gathered everyone for a cookout in their backyard. Valerie enjoyed caring for her flowers and they were always beautiful. Above all, her three little grandsons were the joy of her life. She could be seen at every sporting event as well as many school activates. There couldn’t be a better Grams. She was thankful to be a big part of their lives from the day they were born. The family is immensely grateful to the IU Health Infusion center staff who have cared for her over the last 5 years. Their care and love went above and beyond. Thank you to the IU Hospice House for the kindness and understanding during this difficult time. Valerie is survived by her husband Bob Lindsey, son Anthony (Elizabeth) Lindsey, mother Ida Bouvier, siblings Suzanne Bouvier, Alain (Kim) Bouvier, Monique (Jon) Loucks, Andre Bouvier, grandsons Luke, Noah, and Trey Lindsey, sisters in law Sherrill (Stuart) Curry, Susan (Al) Velasquez, nephews and nieces Curtis Curry, Lisa Webb, Kevin Curry, Lauren Bays, David Loucks, and Kasey, Kiley, Cabot, and Kaitlin Bouvier. Valerie was preceded in death by her son Andrew Lindsey, her father Raymond Bouvier, in laws Bob and Doris Lindsey, and her nephew Christopher Curry. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 22, from 12:00 until 4:00 at Allen Funeral and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington, IN 47401. The family suggests donations honoring her to The Foundation of Monroe County Community Schools or Monroe County Animal Shelter.
