Willa D. Morgan

Willa D. Morgan, 73, of Bloomington passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024 at the IU Hospice House after battling cancer off and on for many years. Born on May 19th, 1951 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Harlan D. and Reba S. Holmes. Her family moved to Spencer, Indiana, where she spent most of her childhood on a small farm. Willa later moved to Indianapolis, where she lived and worked for many years. In 1989, she met the love of her life, Jim Morgan, and they married in 1995. The Morgans later moved to Bloomington in 1997. Willa was a devoted mother to her son and step children and a proud grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. You could often find her and Jim at many of their grandchildren’s activities. Willa was very family oriented and kept close ties with her sisters, brothers, and her extended family, organizing her family reunion for over 50 years. Known as an extremely hard worker, her warm and nurturing personality was infectious, as she and Jim made many lifelong friends during their time together. Willa quickly became acclimated to the Bloomington community and enjoyed the culture and cuisine of Monroe County. Jim and Willa were dedicated members of the Cruisin’ Classics car club, with Willa driving her pride and joy, her red 1951 Ford Crown Victoria named “Reba Sarah” after her mother. Willa was an avid photographer and loved to travel. She and Jim traveled all over North America and Europe. Willa loved taking pictures of her loved ones, as well as the awe-inspiring places she was able to visit. Willa was a life-long fan of the Indianapolis 500 and loved attending with her son and her grandkids. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, auto racing, watching old Westerns, and doing most anything with Jim. Willa is survived by her loving husband, Jim Morgan, of 29 years. Also surviving is her son, Greg (Erin) Haltom of Lafayette, step daughter Tammy Berzenye of Missouri, step son James Ray Morgan (Kayla) of Iowa; her sisters, Vanessa Canada of Indianapolis and Felicia (Randy) Holbrook of Randleman, North Carolina and a brother Harold (Helen) Holmes of Greencastle. Brother-in-laws Roger (Linda Sue) Morgan of Coburn, VA, Joe Mack (Sheila) Morgan of Montgomery, TX, Nancy (Ken) Martin of San Jose, CA, Judy (Billy) Taylor of Lebelle, FL, Billy Ray (Bonita) Morgan of Immokalee, FL, Sandy (RIchard) Shuler of Big Stone Gap, VA, Brenda (Danny) Sturgill of Strawberry Plains, TN, Eddie Morgan of Lebelle, FL. Also surviving are Willa’s beloved grandchildren, Gavin (Hannah), Gunner (Jayda), Grace (Kyle), and Gatlin Haltom, all of Lafayette; Casey Cratte of Colfax, Angela (Jake) Berzenye of Lebanon, Stefan and Cody Morgan, both of Crawfordsville, and Dakaota Morgan of Iowa and 4 great-grandchildren: Cameron Cratte, and Alayah, Raylyn, and James Berzenye. She’s also survived by many extended family members and friends throughout the country. Preceding her in death were her parents, 2 brothers, Larry and Harlan Robert Holmes, brother-in-laws Donnie and Mike Morgan, sister-in-laws Rhonda and Mary Morgan, along with her beloved brother-in-law, George Canada. Visitation will take place on October 21st, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Rod 37 in Bloomington, with a service celebrating Willa’s life immediately following at 1:00 PM. Graveside interment at Valhalla Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
