William Joseph Spalding

William Joseph Spalding, 46, of Bloomington, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital after an extended illness. He was born on March 16, 1976 in Wichita, Kansas; the son of Stephen Joseph and Jeannie (Bolitho) Spalding. He was a 1994 graduate of Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was also a 1998 graduate of Indiana University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in English, and in 2002 he graduated from Indiana University with his Law Degree. William worked as a lawyer in Indianapolis for Hoover Hall Baker & Heath and then for Applegate McDonald and Koch in Bloomington. William then started his own practice, Spalding Law, in Bloomington in 2008. William loved his three children more than anything in his life. He enjoyed watching his son Hud play hockey, and his daughter Sadie create art or play soccer, and he loved watching Colton learn from his older siblings. William was very athletic and loved running, playing basketball, baseball, hockey and golf. He enjoyed the Colts, Pacers, and Philadelphia Flyers, and he also loved spending time with family and friends. His laugh was contagious; he brought a spark of life wherever he went and many people will never forget that laugh. He loved music and art and the written word, and he worshipped the chocolate glazed Crispy Crème donut. A blueberry bagel from the BBC would set his Sunday morning off right. He found joy in so many things in life. William is survived by his three children, Hudson “Hud” Spalding and Sadie Mae Spalding both of Bloomington; Colton Spalding of Mitchell; his mother Jeannie Spalding of Lakewood Ranch, FL; and his sister Amy (Brandon) Moore of Lakewood Ranch, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Joseph Spalding. No services are scheduled at this time, but later this summer there will be a Celebration of Life. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to Pets Alive, a non-profit animal clinic in Bloomington. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with arrangements.
