Betty Lou Martin, 90, of Bloomington passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 at Hearthstone Health Campus in Bloomington. Born, February 21, 1932 in Monroe County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Michael and Alma Richardson. Betty was a lifelong member of the Ellettsville Christian Church, where she served as the financial secretary for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, baking, her flowers and being a homemaker for her husband and four children. Betty was a sweet and humble lady, one who loved God and her family. She set a high standard for all of us to try and follow. Survivors include her children, Dennis Martin, Linda Chambers (Paul), Ken Martin, and Twyla Martin, grandchildren, Chris Martin (Stacy), Lisa Frye (Mike), Jared Smith (Sallie), Jevon Smith (Heather), Jesse Smith (Katie), Kristen Lewis (T.J.), Brian Burkholder (Candi), Chad Burkholder (Kelly), Tiana Burkholder (Chuck), Travis Briles, Joshua Briles, and Mackenzie Smith (Trey), and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Martin, three brothers, Robert, Eugene, and Gordon Richardson, grandson, David Martin, granddaughter, Jennifer Burkholder-Latchman, two daughters-in-law, Judy Martin and Gay Martin. Visitation will be 4-8pm Tuesday, May 17,2022 and 10-11am Wednesday at the Ellettsville Christian Church, 731 E. Independence St. Ellettsville, IN 47429. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday at the church, with Byron Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 South Old State Road 37 in Bloomington have been entrusted with arrangements.
