David J. Allison Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

David J. Allison, 61, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, in St. Pete Beach, FL. He was the husband of Devon (Moore) Allison. They shared 37 wonderful years of marriage together. Born in Springfield, IL, he was the son of the late John Allison and Karen (Allison) Cline. David moved with his mother and brother at a young age to Bloomington, IN, attending University Elementary School, Binford Middle School, and graduating from Bloomington High School South in 1979. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, he learned the tool and die trade at Vincennes University, graduating in 1981. After honing his skills at Sabin Corporation, he left their employment to pursue a B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree at Purdue University, Indianapolis, graduating in 1991. Upon graduation, David accepted a job offer at the Ford Motor Company. After five years of employment with Ford, David realized he could no longer work for The Man and purchased his own tool and die business, Custom Gage and Tool Co., Inc. David and Devon successfully operated the business for over two decades. In addition, David, along with his family, owned and operated an expansive rental property company throughout the Indianapolis Metro area. He enjoyed updating the properties and establishing rapport with the tenants. The light of David’s life was his two girls, Rebecca and Sarah. He loved to see the girls happy and would do anything to make them smile. One of David’s pride and joys was teaching both girls how to remodel houses and use power tools at an early age. David enjoyed family vacations and was a skilled sailor. David is survived by his wife, Devon Allison; daughters, Rebecca and Sarah Allison; mother, Karen Cline; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Ven Allison; stepsister and brother-in-law, Annie and Mike Kearney; stepsister, Elizabeth Cline; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dalene and Marshall Harden; and brother-in-law, Derek Moore. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, David Cline. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2022, 2:00 pm, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 3800 E. Third Street, in Bloomington.
