Hubert Carl Helms, 84, of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at his residence. He was born on September 4, 1937 in Bloomfield; the son of Carl and Jesse (Bland) Helms. Hubert graduated from Bloomfield High School. He worked for Indiana University for over 40 years, having served as the mail carrier for IU-Bloomington and IUPUI in Indianapolis. Hubert never met a stranger and was quite the handyman. He enjoyed working on cars, watching sprint and midget races, and attending flea markets and yard sales. Hubert also enjoyed country music and traveling, especially to Nashville, Tennessee every year with his wife, Brenda. Hubert is survived by his wife, Brenda (Riley) Helms; children, Tammy Haag, Tony Miller, and Jason Helms; step-children, Michele Cazey and Angela Helms; grandchildren, Melissa McBride and Michele Bohnert; great-grandchildren, Grady McBride, Graham McBride, Olivia Bohnert, Madison Bohnert, Haley Bohnert, and Sebastian Helms. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Ricky Helms. There will be no services at this time. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 S.
