Ira Ooley Jr.

Ira Ooley Jr., 86, of Bloomington, passed away Saturday morning, November 14, 2020, at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington. Ira was born October 31, 1934 in Bloomington, IN the son of Ira and Virginia Dale (Stephens) Ooley. He was a 1953 graduate of Bloomington High School and he also graduated with an Associate Degree from Indiana University. Ira married Grace Elizabeth Kenndy. on August 7, 1956 they were married for 60 years. He was a US Army Veteran serving in both the Korean and Vietnam War he retired after 20 years of service in 1976, he then went to work for Crane Naval Base for 20 years retiring in 1999. He enjoyed working, reading, his home he was a loving father and grandfather, he loved his family, and he will be greatly missed. Ira is survived by his two daughters; Linda J. Myers; Janet (Danny) Saylor both of Bloomington, six grandchildren; Heather McClary, Jesse Myers, Chad Allen Rogers, Rachel E. Rogers, Jacob Ooley, Timothy Richardson, 12 great grandchildren, one sister; Delores (TR) Ellis of Tucson AZ. and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Grace; one son Peter Donald Ooley, one great granddaughter Annie jane Rogers, one brother Jerry Ooley and one sister, Phyllis Mullis. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to IU Health Hospice House of Bloomington.
