James "Jim" Michael Salmon

May 6, 1953 - February 20, 2022

James Michael Salmon, “Jim” 68, of Bloomington, IN passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday February 20th, 2022 surrounded by love. Jim was born in East Chicago, IN to Charles and Lucille (Kiernan) Salmon. Jim was raised in Hammond, IN before relocating to Bloomington, IN in 1979. Jim worked at the IU Power Plant for more than 30 years, raised a family, and was an active member of the community. He regularly performed acts of service for friends and strangers alike. Jim loved his children and grandchildren fiercely and never shied from pranking them. He enjoyed hangliding, pickleball, and watching the Cubs, Colts, Bears and Hoosiers. Jim’s legacy of kindness lives on in his son Luke (Monica) Salmon, daughter Leah (Molly) Salmon, daughter Wendy (Todd) Clifford, and grandchildren Patrick, Peyton, Maebry, and Waylon. Jim leaves his two sisters Evelyn (Leo) and Nanci Salmon, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm Saturday, February 26th, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old State Rd. 37 in Bloomington with a short service to follow for family and close friends. In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jim’s name to the Shalom Community Center, Community Kitchen, Amethyst House, or Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard.
