Marla Ann Southern, 57, of Bloomington passed away on Monday December 20, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on April 9, 1964 in Franklin, Indiana the daughter of Stephen Hunter and Marsha (Israel) Stockton. Marla attended Franklin High School. She married Stephen Dale Southern on April 21, 2001 in Springville, Indiana they were happily married 20 years. She worked as a home health care aid for over 30 years in the Bloomington and Bedford area before retiring in 2017. Marla was known for her love for people she cared for, she enjoyed painting, drawing, writing Christian music, cooking, and she especially loved her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Marla leaves behind her husband Stephen Southern of Bloomington; her children, Shila (Daniel) Ham of Gosport; Brandy (Nathan) Voorhies of Ellettsville; Shane (Stephanie) Southern of Carmel; Jeremy (Carrie) Southern of Ellettsville; Dustin Woodard; David Woodard; Jake Woodard all of Greenwood; nine grandchildren; her sister, Amy (John) Cox of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Barron Rupley Elkins. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with arrangements.
