Max Stewart Ferree Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Max Stewart Ferree, age 92 of Bloomington passed away Wednesday evening August 7, 2019 at the Meadowood Health Pavilion. He was born July 17, 1927 in Sullivan, Indiana to Max L. Ferree and Helena Stewart Ferree. He was a graduate of Bloomington High School and spent over 51 years with Black Lumber in Bloomington. Over his lengthy lifetime he was involved with the Boy Scouts of America where he was part of the Order of the Arrow, the American Legion, Moose Lodge, the VFW, Amvets and a lifetime member of the Van Buren Township Volunteer fire Department where he was called upon twice to serve as it’s Chief. He was also a longtime member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Max leaves behind his sons Michael S. Ferree and David A. Ferree; grandchildren James A. Ferree Jr., James M. Shields, Jr., Kurt L., Scott A, Michelle S. Eldridge Ferree, and Nathan O. Ferree; 19 great grandchildren, and 3 and half great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons James A. and Gary L. Ferree, grandchild Craig S. Ferree and his wife, Betty E. Ferree in 2000. Memorial services will be held Saturday evening August 10, 2019 at 7:00PM at the Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37. Father Dennis Duvelius from St. John the Apostle will preside. Visitation will also be held Saturday afternoon and evening from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory.
