Melissa Dawn Sowders Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Melissa Dawn Sowders, 46, of Bloomington, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021 from natural causes at IU Health Methodist Hospital. She was born on September 4, 1975 in Bloomington; the daughter of Allen Sowders and Penny Troth. Missy graduated from Bloomington High School South, Class of 1995. She worked in various industries that included retail, painting, and food service. Missy enjoyed fishing, flowers and gardening and her fur-babies. Missy is survived by her father, Allen Sowders; sister, Miranda Sowders; nieces, Alexis, Lola, and Hadley Sowders; aunts and uncles, Treva Axsom, Joanne Harris, Michael (Jenny) Lutes, and Eddie (Karen) Troth; along with numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Penny Troth; grandparents, Frank and Cora L. Troth and Betty L. Sowders; uncle, Kenneth Troth; and aunts, Rhea Funkshouser and Ramona Sowders. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery.
