Michael W. Chase

While a gentle snow fell on the fields of his beloved farm, Michael W. Chase passed peacefully with his family by his side on November 12th, 2022, at the age of 67. Michael (Mike) was known for his devotion to his family and friends, his love of nature, a commitment to hard work, his fortitude, and for always being there when others needed him most. Mike was resolute, and that lives on in his children and grandchildren today. Mike was born on January 17th, 1955, in Boise, Idaho to the late Wayne and Dorothy Chase. Mike went on to attend Indiana University where he met the love of his life, JoAnn (Coggeshall) Chase. Mike and JoAnn were married in October of 1979 on their farm in Springville, IN. In their 43 years of marriage, they created the homestead and family of their dreams. Mike received a master’s degree in Hazardous Materials Management from IUPUI, and had a successful career traveling the globe and working to protect and preserve the environment. Mike is survived by JoAnn and their three children, Lauren (Chase) Hubbard – married to Tai Hubbard, Maria Chase – partner Justin Fox, and Dominick Chase – married to Josie Chase. Mike and JoAnn also have six grandchildren: Asa Hubbard (14), Burr Hubbard (12), Poppy Chase (7), Petra Hubbard (6), Mina Chase (5), and Odin Hubbard (4). Mike will be forever cherished by his wife, his children, grandchildren, fraternity brothers, rugby brothers, and his lifelong friends. Mike will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on his farm. One of the last things Mike said to his family was, “Enjoy Everything.” In that spirit, the family will host an event in the spring to honor his legacy.
