    Rev.Douglas Deckard

    October 18, 1958 - August 1, 2021

    Rev. Douglas Deckard, 62, of Bloomington passed away on Sunday August 1, 2021 at his home. He was born on October 18, 1958 in Monroe County, Indiana the son of Donald Ray and Virginia R. “Jenny” (May) Deckard. Douglas was a 1976 graduate of Bloomington North High School and was also a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan with his Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He married the love of his life Cindi Michelle Rayle on July 4, 1977 in Solsberry, Indiana they were happily married for 44 years. He worked for Otis Elevator and Baxter Inc in Bloomington, and also worked for the City of Bloomington Parking Enforcement Agency. Douglas was a minister and pastor for over 34 years serving as pastor in Cleveland TN, Brazil IN, Hot Springs AR, and was the Pastor of Bethel Apostolic Church in Bloomington. He enjoyed working, preaching, reading his Bible, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He loved his family, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends, and church community. Douglas is survived by his wife Cindi Deckard of Bloomington; his children, Michael (Frances) Deckard of Ellettsville; Andrew (Morgan) Deckard of Spencer; Madison Deckard of Bloomington; his seven grandchildren, Caleb; Kendall; Skyler; Carter; Starla; Carson and Skotlynn Deckard; his father, Donald Ray Deckard of Bloomington; his siblings, Delbert (Abby) Deckard of Bedford; Diana Deckard of Bloomington; Brad (Chelsea) Deckard; Zach (Carrie) Deckard; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm Friday August 6, 2021 at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 S. Old St Rd 37 Bloomington IN. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday with a visitation service held at 11 am August 7, 2021 at the Bethel Apostolic Church 8035 S. Strain Ridge Rd Bloomington. With Rev. Michael Deckard Officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the family to help with funeral expenses.
