Ruth Ann Hawkins Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ruth Ann Hawkins, 88, of Spencer passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the McCormick’s Creek Nursing Center. She was born on June 17, 1935 in Bloomington, Indiana the daughter of Thomas Milton and Mary Elizabeth (Owens) West. She married William Louis Hawkins on June 14, 1956 in Bloomington. They had two daughters and they were happily married for 61 years. Bill was in the Army and stationed in Germany for a couple of years, where they lived in the early years of their marriage. The German culture had a great impact on her life and the meals she created. Ruth Ann was a homemaker. In her earlier years she frequently went on family camping trips and loved to visit State and National Parks. She loved to travel and explore new parts of the Country, family vacations were often spent on long road trips to destinations such as Yellowstone Park, Badlands National Park in South Dakota and the Smokey Mountains. Her greatest enjoyment came from the time she spent with her three grandsons. She and Bill could often be found at their sporting events, cheering them on. In the last seven years she was able to help welcome into the world her great grandchildren and took pride in watching the great young men that her grandsons became. Ruth Ann will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Ruth Ann is survived by her, two daughters; Diane (Rich) Hubel, Lisa (Randy) Mosier; three grandsons and their wives; Tommy (Kristina) Mosier, Nick (Brandi) Mosier and Justin (Lisa) Mosier; four great grandchildren; Haven, Kane, Mason and Cameron Mosier, her sister Nora Lee Whaley. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. As Ruth Ann requested, a private funeral service will be held. She will be buried by her husband at Clear Creek Cemetery.
